Running!!!

It is definitely the time of year where people like to go out for a run. We have noticed this a lot in the gym. However, we want everyone to look at running as a skill because that’s exactly what it is. More is not necessarily better.  Just like the deadlift, if your technique is suffering, it only makes it worse to do a high volume.  So we will be throwing in a few more running activites during skill portions of some of the classes to address this. If anyone has any plans for running a particular event, whether it be a 5k, 10k, half-marathon, or full, please come to us with questions on the best ways to train. Injuries are far too common in the running world (about 85% of all runners), it is our job to keep you training as safely and efficiently as possible. The point is to run smarter, not harder.  By utilizing good technique and proper programming (i.e. just like what we do for everything else in our gym) you’ll be able to increase your motor (read: faster time) while working on improving your technique and keeping the mileage lower (read: decreased possibility for injury). All we ask is that you let us use our education to your advantage.  Just for emphasis…remember…smarter, not harder.

*So awesome job on the PR’s yesterday. I’m pretty sure they all didn’t get recorded but regardless it was a good day of PR’s. We had 2 new gym records:  Beth moved in to 3rd place for ladies with a jump of 38″, and Tom King broke his previous 2nd place record with and jump of 50.5″.

3 O’clock Class Announcement!

Unfortunately the 3 o’clock class is not getting the attendance needed to sustain it. This will be the last week of 3 p.m. classes. If the interest comes back to where we have consistent numbers we will bring the 3 back. If you have any questions ask one of the coaches.  As with all of our off hours, if 3 is the only time of the day you can make it, feel free to come in and work out, but understand that you won’t be getting the same attention you would be in a class as we use this time for taking care of our office work and other duties.

Love,

JJ, Josh, and Chad
