Congratulations to Laura the 2nd Place finisher in the Paleo/Fitness Challenge.  This was a big step in the right direction for Laura.  A long time CrossFitter, she has repeatedly struggled with getting her diet in line.  With support from her coaches, and more importantly, the entire CFBN family, she finally found the resolve to stay strict for the whole 7 weeks.  Having always excelled at pushing herself to the limits during WoD’s, Laura was able to redirect that tenacity to her eating.  Laura lives outside of Flanagan, works in Roanoke, and exercises at CFBN, so much of her life is spent on the road.  This required her to pre-make large amounts of food and always have meals prepared for her when she hits the road.  While her co-workers ate pizza and bagels, she would have her lean meats, fruits and veggies, healthy fats, and fish oils.  Kudos to you, Laura!!  We look forward to giving you all an update in a few months so you can see all the progress she’s continued to make.

Skill: Agility Drills and Exercises.

Get ready for some races.  We’re guna take these out to the grass in front for the PM classes so we have some more room to go head to head.

WoD: “Let’s meet Curtis”

  • 10 Curtis P’s (95/65), 1 Burpees
  • 9 Curtis P’s, 2 Burpees
  • 8 Curtis P’s, 3 Burpees
  • .

  • 1 Curtis P, 10 Burpees.

 

Curtis P:  Power Clean, Racked lunge both legs, push-press.  That is 1 rep.  Have fun!

Pecan Cookies

Pecan Cookie
Ingredients:
1 C almond meal
1 C ground pecans
1/4 C raw cocoa nibs
1/2 C shredded coconut
1/4 C Goji berries
1/2 C dried apricots
1 tsp. cinnamon
6 T Honey

Directions:
Combine all ingredients (except honey) and mix well. Then slowly add the honey. The mixture will look a little crumbly, that’s okay. You’ll have to use your hands to form balls with about one T of dough. Place on cookie sheet (spray cookie sheet with oil to prevent sticking). Flatten each cookie slightly before baking. Cook at 350 degrees for 15-17 minutes. Makes 21-24 cookies.

Zone information per cookie:
2 blocks fat, .5 blocks protein, 1 block carb.
